Deep sea diving: on my list of things to do before I die, not list of things to die doing.

Fiiiiinally, I got this scanned and edited.

And the moral of the story is... quit lookin at the damned starfish and pay attention to all the giant pointy teeth fish around you.

Colored pencil, my old friend... enhanced by Photoshop CS5, my new friend.

Open House poster. Fffinally.

First the monsters were "too scary" so I made them friendly. Now they're "too children's book."
I had to laugh. The thing I like most about my career choice is that it's like a sitcom. I'm never bored and I save the money it would cost to get cable. Win win.

Frontis is a funny word

I made this last night. I started out with the image that I used for my website banner, but the resolution was too low and the lines were too choppy. Sooo I had to re-do it using ink. I've been using these Le Pen markers recently, I really like them.
As for whether I really like this? I do. I may not use it though.

Monster Toy and Packaging: Sketches

It seems I've been doing a lot of monsters lately. I guess it all started with the zombies. Anyhoo. This little guy is a present I made for a lovely gentleman this past Christmas. He is the computer monster, he who causes all frustration computer related. System malfunctions, viruses, delayed start-up, spinning beachballs and perpetually turning sand-clocks.... he's to blame for the works!
So I'm making him a little box for a school assignment. These are my sketches for the box and the series logo, with a moodboard of the things I'm looking at for logo inspiration.

So here's how that Ely Poster turned out....

First off, I'd like to thank God for the two snow days we got in which I got to dedicate some serious work to this project. Had I been required to turn it in on time, I would have been severely dissatisfied.
I started out with a really rendered colored pencil version, but found that after the digital application of color, it looked a little too messy for my liking. So I redid all the coloring and drew over the linework digitally. I was really pleased with the image (aside from the type... I'll fix that later on).
Out of all the seniors' posters, the image we picked to be mass produced was an awesome design by Jim Tierney. So congratulations to him, he totally deserves it!
